weird sound under the car?????please help!!!
Yeah i sort of have the same problem you do. When the clutch is out i can hear a noise that sounds like its coming from my tranny. When i press the clutch in it goes away. Also my shifter moves like crazy. I just put a new clutch in the car hopefully i didn't mess up when putting the tranny back in.
yeah, check your tranny mount. it is by the rear of the tranny. is is a rectangular rubber piece held on by some metal . es is energy suspension. energy suspension is known for their polyurethane bushings. polyurethane bushings tend to have more vibrations with them but they will last.
The pinion nub on the input shaft of the M6 (Really it is a T56 Borg Warner) can ding the side of the pilot bearing when mating the trans to the engine. This "nick" could cause a burr which would wear your input shaft pinion nub. This wear would eventually wear down the input shaft nub and increase the diameter inside the pilot bearing causing excessive clearance. This would eventually "chatter" and cause excessive noise in the trans except when the clutch is pressed.
It would also be damaging the input shaft which will ultimately have to be replace... which requires a trans rebuild.
I've had success with emory cloth and polishing the nub smooth removing the sharp edges before installing. Seems to work and doesn't "catch".
