Question Weird problem with headlight motor?

My pass side headlight motor had problems for the past few days with not going up every once in a while, I would put up manually and then it would go down on its own and work fine the rest of the night. This made me think bad gears. Well starting last night, the headlight motor would make a bad whining sound after I turn them off and they lower down, same side. Today, it was raining, so was only going to put on the parking lights w/fogs, and when I switched to park from off, the headlights came up, but not on of course. WTF is going on here?

it's your headlight motor... you can do the free fix for it by turning your gears 180 deg... dont have a link... but you could do a search for it

Here is what is going on with the headlights now. If I turn on parking lights, the headlights flip up, which is NOT supposed to happen. Anytime I lower the headlights now after they have been up, it sounds like the motors continue to try to run for an additional 5-10 seconds. This is annoying me, any suggestions as to what this can be and how to fix.

I had this SAME exact problem and bought the brass gears from Brent and installed them, it solved the problem. Your gears are worn down, you could rotate the headlight gears 180 degrees or you could get the brass gears from Brent. I would Highly recommend getting Brents gears.

You can read more about and buy the gears at this site:

Yep, the other oddities with the headlights now are being caused by the headlight gear being stripped. Fix the stripped gear problem and the headlight will go back to operating normally. The stripped gear "freaks out" so to speak the control module and makes the headlights go up/down when they shouldn't, stay up with just the fogs on, stuff like that.

Switched the gears 180*, now only the drivers side motor continues the problem with the noise, the pass side is quiet. They both still flip up with the parking/fogs though. Tried 180* the driver's side a few times with no luck, except once, put on fogs, didnt come up, then put on headlights, then lowered, problem came back. Guess I will have to get the brass gears.
