weird problem??

Something strange happened this morning. Got into my car went to start it up and all the lights on the dash flashed on and off then it was completely dead as if the battery had taken a dump. So I got out checked the ground on the fender by the battery, checked the ground by the coil, checked the battery terminals everything seemed fine still had no power. Then I pulled the fuse to the PCM waited about a min. put it back in and the car fired right up. Is this a sign that the PCM is going bad in the car, or was it just a coincidence that when I pulled the PCM fuse it started. Is there another ground somewhere I don’t know about that might have come loose? What else should I look at to make sure this doesn’t happen again. I just don’t want it to loose power when I’m driving down the road. Oh yea the car is a 95 z28. Thanks

Can someone please give me an idea as to what to look at. I know there is a short somewhere in the car but what kinda short would cause the dash lights blink on and off like that? It has been doing this every time I go and start her after she has been sitting for awhile. It has not been causing the power to completely go out the last few times this has happened. Could it be a problem with the pass key system. If so how do I go about checking it? Thanks.

Have you checked battery connections for corrosion? Does the power come back on when you turn the key off? A little more input. I've had the same problem before but it was a bad connection to the battery...

Yea the power will come back if I let it sit for a min. I’ll double-check my battery connection. Could this be a sign that my battery is going bad? Only seems to do it when the car has been sitting for awhile. One time I came out and found the car had no power at all.

Check the battery voltage while the engine is off and also while someone is cranking the engine. Should not go below 11 volts. After the engine is running be sure the voltage is now above the point it was before you cranked it up. In fact while its running it should be around 14 volts.

Yep, more than likely you have a couple of bad cells in the battery. Take it to Autozone and they will test it for you. I had a friend who's battery worked absolutely fine one day and had absolutely NO juice about 14 hours later. I mean it didn't even have enough to run the dome light. It was weird. Had A-Zone check the battery , they said it was bad. We replaced it and it was fine. Weiredest thing I've ever witnessed.
