If it is coming out the weep hole on the bottom, it's time to be gearing up for replacement.

showen where are you from in ohio?

shoebox, what are your opinions on electrical replacements for the pump? Is the pump all that needs replaced or is the whole housing peice bad? My opti is dead and I figured I could do my WP while its off and I want to know whats a good idea to do to insure my new opti doesnt get drenched and ruined anytime soon.

I personally don't like electric pumps on street driven cars. The added complexity can cause loss of pump action before you notice it is not working. Too many distractions with daily driving to be vigilant enough to protect your engine.

The mechanical pump rarely dies all of the sudden, without warning.

When you install the electric pump, you use or modify your existing pump housing to fit the pump in it.

What warning does a mechanical pump show? Cause mine has rust looking spots on it, but I wonder if its from the rusted balancer getting water on it and spinning it up onto the water pump housing...

Usually a mechanical pump will start leaking through the weep hole. An electric will just die and your temp will start going up. I've got an electric on my daily driven supercharged car and it works fine. I also keep a spare pump and a pair of gloves in the car just incase. A few bolts, a plug, and some extra fluid are all that's needed to change an electric pump once the stocker has been converted.

You know, most people carry around a spare tire around in the trunk, not a waterpump

Know where? Sounds like a good deal to me

From what I hear CSI customer service is pretty good also.

This is one place I found, but I like buying from somewhere trusted

Scoggin Dickey has always had top notch service for me.

I was actually thinking about Summit, but I see they've receintly raised their price.
