waterpump and r.p.m.-what's the limit?

For those of you running stock waterpumps, whats the highest you spin your motor? Can it be damaged by running too fast?

I think some guys spin it to 6800, never heard of anyone breaking the drive shaft for the water pump.

My redline is 7,400rpm. Engine is routinely spun to 7,000rpm. Stock water pump, LT4 Extreme Duty timing set. A buddy of mine pushed 8,000rpm on an 1,125HP 30th SS.

Thanks, I was just a little curious. Everyone seems to go electric, and i didn't know if it was just because of the parasitic losses of the regular pump or if there was another reason.
