Unhappy WaterPump problem

Hey all, quick question for anyone who might have experienced this before....
My Opti was crappin out on me, so i got a new one from someone on here. It seems to be working great now but about four weeks after changing out the OPTI (end of MAY and replacing waterpump gaskets, and takin off all that other crap just to change the OPTI)...Ive started noticing some coolant dripping on the ground after it runs for a few minutes. Well I started the car, got underneath (after cleaning everything off that had coolant on it, since it drips onto the belt and sprays everywhere)....and noticed it IS coming from the 'driphole' at the bottom of the WaterPump.
My question is, the WaterPump was working perfectly fine before the OPTI change and abit after, is it just coincidence that its crapping out now? I had the entire engine rebuilt about 3k miles ago (after market pistons/cam etc) and the guy said the pump was good. Im not sure if its the original pump either. The car itself has about 148k on it, but the motor only has 3k like I said.
So how do I know if I have to buy a new WaterPump? Is the coolant leakin (very slowly) from the 'driphole' the sign of a bad WaterPump, and how long do I have before it just gives and goes all at once? Thanks guys in advance for your help, wouldnt be able to maintain my Z without this site!!!

Yes if you are seeing dripping from the weep hole then it needs to be replaced. I drove on mine for a while but you are running the risk of damaging the opti by driving it. I replaced mine with an electric.

Replacing the WP is lots cheaper than the opti!! My only tip on the WP is to drain the block with the KS or drain plug on the drivers side. Depends on which is easier. Will keep coolant from running every friggin place when you pull the bolts out. Just my 2 pennies.

Thumbs up thanks guys

I kinda figured it would be my luck to have to replace it...JUST after tearin it apart twice before when i installed the OPTI (first install the dowel was misaligned..had to uninstall everything..lol)
Ill check for the refurbished ones, shouldnt really be much different than new except for the price!!
Thanks guys, my best bud said his 93Z went a couple months with a leakin WP, but I dont wanna drive it period with it leaking. Having to keep fillin it would be a pain. anyways, thanks again guys, hope it fixes the problem. Lates!
