waterpump/opti install

waterpump/opti install

im going to attempt to do this on saturday a friend of mine put the waterpump on before i got the opti and then it wouldnt start ive been reading up alot about installing the waterpump and i see alot about gaskets and stuff but i wasnt here when he installed it but i think all he used was RTV do i need some kind of seal or gasket or something from the dealer? wanna get it today since the GM parts will probably be closed on saturday

You need 2 LT1 water pump gaskets:
GM p/n 10128343 less than a buck each..

Different people use different things. I used the GM gaskets and put RTV on both sides. I've heard of some people using nothing but RTV.

I used nothing but rtv sealant (Black, always use black RTV. It's the most oil resistant) no leaks whatsoever. I hate messing with gaskets.
