Question WaterPump Dowl Thingy lol

Well I just found out my WP is crappin out, the weephole is 'weeping' lol
Anyways, i was curious...does it matter which way the 'socket looking' dowl rod is connected? The piece that goes onto the dowl of the WP and to the engine. On one end of it, there is a grooved line all the way around it. The other end of it is just smooth. (this is on the outside of it). On the inside of the dowl thing, the threads seem to be the same, slightly different spacing between the edge of the inside and where the threads start. Either way I put this on the WP (its removed now)...it fits flush and turns the components inside the WP just fine.
So again, my only question is, does it matter which way the dowl piece is facing? Thanks in advance, Derek!

Cool

Hey there good buddy,

I am pretty sure it's like fits like how we talked about. Either way this is a TTT for 'ya.

I think that it doesn't matter the orientation of that piece. I think the water pump is going to spin with the motor regardless of how that square piece is aligned. We'll just have to wait and see what experience has taught others.

Take care,

Jay

I'm guessing there is some sort of difference about the orientation of the coupler or there would not be a groove on one end. So, it goes like this.

Talking thanks shoebox! you kick @$$

seriously, what would this server do without good old Shoe? I think I had it on wrong..however, would that cause the weep hole to 'weep'? I dont think it could seriously effect how the WP performs, but I suppose if it's designed to be a certain way, maybe after my Opti install, it eventually made a difference having that backwards (if I did)....Id hate to put it back together just to see if it makes a difference...any thoughts?
Again, thanks shoe
and Jay, mine's just a WP, get yours back on the road chica! Atleast one of us needs to be out there showin up those RiceBurners...lates.
