not sure if thats the right name of this stuff, a guy i met has a all motor LT1 camaro built. he said he removed all the anitfreeze from the system and added water wetter or whatever. he said it keeps the car cooler? what is this stuff exactly and where can i get it? is it expensive? is it worth it?

found it.. man only a 120unce bottle... what do you do with it,like do you add 50% water then the water wetter? wonder how many of those bottles i would need?

water wetter is good however royal purple ICE works much better.....

 

You only have to use 1 to 2 bottles for the entire cooling system.... I use 2 bottles in my 1922 T-bucket with a 355 and a tiny radiator and it has never gotten about 195-200 degrees.... Before, with antifreeze 50/50 water, it would overheat at idle in traffic.... no problems at all now!

Like the other guy posted above, you only need one bottle. I used it the summer before last...just water with Water Wetter added and it kept the engine cool. I switched back to 50/50 water/antifreeze this past year and I haven't really noticed a difference. I have a 160* thermostat and the fans have been set to come on at 180*, so maybe that's why I haven't seen any difference.

 

hmm- type o negative. i also have a 160 stat and fans programmed and fan switch. but i'm running a nonintercooled blower setup,but i have a alky kit on the car to cool the intake air down. so i wonder if its worth it? so like you add a empty anitfreeze bottle with water in it to the system then one bottle of the water wetter? thats enough for the system?? i thought it took close to both gallon anitfreeze bottles for the system? i forget though. thanks for al the replies guys..

 

You put in one bottle of additive and then completely fill the system with water.

 

Water Wetter is an additive, not a coolant. Its a surfactant.. reduces the surfaces tension of the coolant, improving heat transfer. You don't mix it with anything. You dump one bottle into whatever is in your cooling system.

 

since i don't race my car at the strip do you guys think its worth it even with my mods?

 

Even Redlines "test" data indicates that the gains when running it with a 50/50 colant/water mix are minimal.... maybe 5degF reduction on a SBC engine running at 7,000rpm for 3 hours. I tried it with a 50/50 mix and couldn't detect any significant decrease in temperature. It is useful if you run only water, since it helps reduce corrosion and contains lubricants.

 

It may not help, but it definitely won't hurt. Buy a little bottle of it (~$7 at Pep Boys), drain a bit of coolant out of your radiator, then add the Water Wetter. You don't need to worry about ratios or anything, and you don't have to run straight water to use it (bad idea anyways once winter hits).

 

What's the difference between this Water Wetter and Evans NPG? Or is there any?
