I have a 94 Z28 and I noticed that my water pump was leaking from the weap whole. My question is if i get a meziere or summit electric water pump will this stop it from leaking or do i have to buy a new factor water pump to get a new housing. Confused because dont these electric water pumps just bolt up to the stock water pump housing which is where the weap whole is at.

I believe the electric pump has a plug that goes into the weep hole in place of the bearing.

Btw, if you end up going oem, autozone has reman pumps for 45 + 15core and got 3$ thermostats. You also get 1 year warranty. I did this and it worked fine.

 

they were $140 2.5 years ago! damn. they only had new ones back then.

EDIT: those $3 thermostats are NOT the correct ones for this engine. you need one that has two valves.

 

The CSI uses what looks basically like a freeze plug that you pound into the back of the water pump and seals off the hole.

 

Thank goodness and yall. See I had already order the electric pump when it dawned on me that the pump was leaking from the weap whole, so i was like oh no! but now every thing makes sence.
