Welded in a round disc. Problem solved

You can just leave the driveshaft in there though. It doesn't hurt anything.

I used a freeze plug and some jb weld. Shouldnt be any problems and it's cheap to do, just give it some time to harden up. JB quick works in like 4 minutes.

I also thought about using JB weld on it. I might do that or I may leave the drive in there I would rather take it out.

You might as well take it out while you can. Those drives are a stupid idea and are prone to leak if there is any type of wear pattern on them. We all know that leaks plus opti makes for a bad day and another tear down. But if you take it out you need to take off the oil pan and timming cover so I guess it is a risk reward type of situation.

I agree with removing the water pump drive. No reason to leave it in there.

Water pump drive it brand new, taking off the oil pan sounds like a job lol.

The water pump drive is reached by removing the intake manifold, not the oil pan.

You don't need to remove the oil pan to remove the timing cover, either. I simply cut the pan gasket on each side of the cover when removing the cover the last time. Used plenty of black RTV when re-installing and it hasn't leaked at all.

I'd leave the drive in instead of tearing things apart to take it out. There is no parasitic loss without the water pump attached and they don't really leak all that often....
