Water pump issue

I got a new water pump and for some odd reason there is a gear in the back and also there is another gear in the block where it mounts too they are both males and not females they dont plug into one another im not sure if the old water pumpes gear fell off and is stuck in the block or they gave me the wrong pump. Did they change anything with the water pumps from 93 to 97? Any suggestions on what to do.

Yep ... there's a coupler that mates the two males splined shafts.
If you've taken the pump off, then the coupler must have fallen off.

Chevy (GM) dealership.

But if I were you, just look around where it might have fallen off.

I can't believe the coupler is that expensive. Assuming the guy lost his, I would recommend shopping around.

$85!

Never buy anything from a corvette specialist unless it is the last source on Earth.

GM list is $45, which is still a lot.

Understood ... I wasn't suggesting necessarily that they buy
from this source - it was more to show them what the coupler
looks like, so they know what they're looking for

I certainly, along with any other sane person, wouldnt pay that much!
