Water Pump Install Help...Quick

Trying to change my water pump right now but have a question. I drained all the coolant from the radiator but it was only about 1.5 gallons of it, where is the rest of the coolant at??? I thought the coolant capacity was around 4 gallons.
Help me please...how do I make sure to get all the coolant out....where exactly are the block drain plugs?? Thanks a lot.

The remainder of the fluid is in the block but dont worry about it, its not neccessary to drain all of out for a waterpump install.

If you do want to drain the block, there is a plug above the oil pan on the drivers side and there is the knock sensor on the pass side above the oil pan.

you just need to twist and pull. I would check them to see what kind of condition they are in. If they look like they need to be replaced, take a razor blade or a box knife and just cut a slit in them where they connect to the pump and slide them off and get new hoses. Now would be the best time to replace them.

That usely means they are swollen on because they are old. Slice them with a box cutter and replace them.

Put a screwdriver between the pump and block and pry it off.

You're missing one bolt. The pump is held on by 6 bolts, and one doubles as the AIR pump stud. That's probably why you can't get the pump off of the block, and the AIR pump bracket removed.

Got the pump finally off and quite for the day. Is there some secret to getting the old coolant temp sensor out of the old pump and into the new? ALso, how important is it to get rid of ALL the old gasket material. Thanks

umm, you can reuse the temp sensor but i would just run and and get a new one, y not, they are cheap and 1 less thing to worry about, i usally replace many parts when i do stuff like that on my car, if in doubt get a new one.
