Water pump? help asap

Ok, i just got home , parked my car, and antifreeze started spilling out the bottom of my car. Car didnt get hot, and wasnt doing it when i was driving. I got under it and it looked to be coming from the water pump. Im not 100% sure though. Pulled off the intke elbow and looked to be some residue under the throttle body on top of the water pump. It was coming down in a stream. Looked like it spilled 1/2 a gallon of antifree. Any ideas.

is this the first time youve noticed it happening? when a water pump starts wearing out, it starts to leak from the weap hole on the bottom of it. you say it spilled 1/2 gallon, thats alot to come out of that little hole. it doesnt sound like the WP, especially since you said it was on top of it and under the throttle body. check the hoses. they might only leak when the car heats up. i had a tear in one and it would only do it after i let the car heat up, then it would spray like a garden hose.

not sure if was antifreeze on the top or not. See thats the wierd thing, it was a little stream bout a cm in diameter. and it ws comin own the back of the wp, by where the little plastic clamp to keep the wires for the sensor away from everything is on the wp. It was comin right over that

Check your Throttle Body area for a hose off...it would flow down that way..might make it look like the WP?? Otherwise the WP just seeps..usually really small amounts.

i didnt think about the throttle body. have you done a tb bypass? if so, then no need to look there. if you havent, theres a line going into the throttle body, and one coming out on the opposite side. gm thought we would be driving around in arctic conditions all the time, and didnt want the throttle body blades to freeze up on us, so they ran some coolant through the TB. its worth checking out.

Im pretty sure the origanal owner did the bypass. The one metal tube comein from the bottom pass side of the tb as nothin goin t it. And te one on the driver s capped off. Anyway, I replaced the wp. And the problems stoped. So that was it. Thanks so much for all the help though guys. Just shows me again why I love these boards so much.
