water pump gasket removal (did search)
OK, i have teh water pump off and everything - i seem to have removed most all the gasket from the block but on the water pump itself there is gasket material left and its REALLY in there. I've tried using a razor blade to get it off, but it almost seems as if i'm taking aluminum shards off of the water pump itself. Will it be OK if i just clean it up as best i can and just use the felpro gasket/RTV?
Or does the surface need to be absolutely completely stripped of gasket?
thanks!

I would completly strip the surface.. They make sprays that work if you let them soak. or you can go to home depot and get a scuffing pad or w/e.. damn i forgot what its called.. it goes on a dremel and wont harm the surface but will eat through the gasket.. looks like a honey comb/bees nest type thing. you can also just lightly sand the surface..
Re: water pump gasket removal (did search)
The spray has worked VERY well on the stock water pump gasket that was on my other LT1. SPray soak spray repeat till perfectly clear. Also a thin layer of RTV neverr hurt anything.
Re: water pump gasket removal (did search)
Someone suggested oven cleaner spray as well. I have NO idea if that works. Anyone tried that???
I am looking as well. I've spent hours on this, did they super glue these things on at the factory?
Any other suggestions?
