Water pump drive shaft q...

Hey guys, so I have a CSR EWP on my 94 Z28. I wanted to upgrade to a double roller timing set, but since I JUST bought a non vented opti, I decided to stick with the stock timing set. Anyways, my question is, can i still remove the water pump drive gear? I see no need for it and want it gone, as long as I can do that with the stock timing set. Let me know, thanks

Can i take it out without taking the intake man off? Can I work it out easily? I know i can leave it in, but I had a timing chain failure and the sprocket is chipped anyways, so Id like it out. And a freeze plug will fit in the timing cover right?
