Question Water pump died, I think it took the opti too. What do you think?

Well, my water pump took a crap and was dumping coolant out, of course right on the opti. It started running sh**y, so I threw some water in, and limped the mile home So I replaced the pump, etc. and now I go to start it and it's still running really bad. Really rough, occasional backfiring etc. Now I'm pretty sure it didn't overheat, and I'm not getting an SES light, so I'm figuring it took out my opti. What do you think? Anyway I can check to make sure it is/is not the opti? I'm redownloading freescan to check for codes, I'm just praying its only the opti. Also wheres the cheapest place to get one?

Likely just the opti. I just finished installing a new one (plus other things), have not started it yet. What are your suspention mods if you don't mind me asking? I noticed you did a 1.8x 60-foot, not bad. Slicks or drag radials? Thanks.

Cool

Only suspension mods I have are an edlebrock panhard bar, hotchkis strut tower brace, OEM take off replacement rear springs, and BFG DR on the salad shooters. I even still had my swaybar hooked up. My car always hooked real good, guess I'm just lucky.

Is there any chance that I'd be able to take the opti apart, and dry and clean it, or is it still prolly toast?

Thanks!

Leave it overnite, etc it may dry out.. if it'll run, heat the motor.. the heat helps..
Also a 93-4 opti from Cromer is 280 ish [not 190..] thats for a 95-7 vented one..

I disected my opti (pic in sig) and it was full of rust. Worked fine when I pulled it out (74k miles). No telling how much longer it would of lastest though. I only washed the engine one time since the car was new too.

I'm letting it sit till tomorrow morning, I'll see if it helps any. It was running, We bled the coolant after wechanged the pump and it was running real rough. We shut it downwhen we were finished, then tried to start it again like 15 min. later, it wouldn't fire up. Hopefully it'll dry out, if not its opti time.
Also, whats involved in converting to a vented style opti?

Well, I looked into the conversion and it's definitly not worth it at this point. Time to go out and see if she fires up. Wish me luck!

Still wouldn't fire up. Guess it's time to buy a new opti.
