anywho today on route 3 in nj there was a flash flood to make a long story short im pretty sure i lost my motor due to it so i tried to crank it nothing i took all the spark plugs out and tried to crank it and nothing sounds like the starter is engaging and trying to turn the motor but cant do it being restricted so then i tried to turn the crank bolt and it wouldnt budge. so now my questions are what are the chances of having the block being salvageable, could this have effected my valvetrain at all (cam pushrods roller rockers springs etc.) and what would be a better route to go for the new motor. i was thinking 355 or 383 i want to have a sick street car and i was intending on doing this but not necesarily this soon. i want around 480 rwhp and have the car be nice and streetable ive seen 383s with ported heads and a nice cam make about that is it farfetched to think i could obtain such power? thanks for all the advice
yea dude the water just rose up and im sitting there chopping away and the thing just says **** you more or less i just bout injectors and a 58mm throttle body think im going with a forged 383 setup anybody have any opinions, oh and i really think i bent a connecting rod there was about a gallon and a half of water in the head i pulled the motor today. and yea there was a river on route 3 under an overpass.
if you werein a flood turn it into your insurance...they probably wont pay for a brand new motor but atleast you will get something, i think they usually pay for a used motor that has ~same mileage? I would check with your insurance company.
called my insurance company they wanted to total the car and it only has 40k on it and its too clean to be totaled and i dont want a j yard motor with 150xxx miles on it witha 40k body it all really sucks i got shafted pretty hard on this one im going cast 383 with a new cam and a 4bolt main its what i can do now ill start building a forged 383 on the side

yea it does im going to buy a 383 long block off ebay i called the guy up today he builds the motors by order so ill have my new one soon. would the cc306 be a good 383 cam or should i get something else my old 306 was thrashed by a pissed off connecting rod i think he was under alot of pressure or something and just snapped lol
I have a cc306 in my 355, sounds like your going na, sure you dont want to blower motor or even spray it? I now wish i would have just payed the extra and gone with a blown 355.
a 383 would make a nice spray or even better...a forced induction motor.
Nothing like lighting them up at 55 mph
If you have the money for a blower motor do it...you wont be sorry.
If not then think about spraying it! If the guy thats building it is good you could easily throw a 250+ shot at it.
You really need to decide what your going to do with it.
just na, spray it, blower?
