Washing your camaro...

I was told that cleaning the engine can ruin the opti because it will get wet...is there an easy way to get the engine looking clean without pulling it and cleaning it, and without screwing up the opti? Also, a friend of mine has the "salad shooter" rims on his Z28 and he used, I think, the Turtle Wax Wheel Cleaner, and it left faint, white streaks on his rims. What caused that and what is a good wheel cleaner that you guys have found to be good?

Simple green cleaner and a spray bottle with water. Lots of rags
and you can get this:

When using an All Wheel type cleaner or any type of cleaner, NEVER let it dry! When you let stuff like that dry you get nice white streaks or white water spots the same goes for Simple Green.

Its also the same when you wash your car let the suds dry on the paint and your gonna have nasty water spots to contend with.

Maybe I'm lucky but I have rinsed off the motor and engine compartment so many times its staggering and never had an opti problem. I would say that spraying directly on the opti might cause problems but the thing has to get wet while driving in the rain so I'm sure that a little water isn't going to hurt it just, drenching the thing would and try to keep the cleaner away from it.

I have washed my engine area several times and never had any problems as of yet I hear horror stories of this but then again its not like I soak the engine just a brisk rinse.

Do not hose down the engine

It is not worth the risk of screwing up the distributor. It happened to me once, never again.
