Washed my K&N air filter with Simple Green. Bad Idea?

I had no washing solution that came with the K&N filter anymore and the filter was pretty dirty after 6 years. So I used simple green solution. Came out pretty clean and I rinsed it pretty thouroughly. I didin't see any instructions on not using anything else other than their cleaning solution.

So you think it's ok to oil back up?

I believe that the K&N filters are made with a type of fine cloth. As long as simple green isn't harsh on fine cloths, I think it's fine.

Simple Green is not harsh at all. I would rather you use the supplied kit, only since its for that type of filter. As long as you use the oil to re oil it, you should be more than fine.

I have cleaned a K&N filter with simple green many times. No problems yet doing it that way.

Good to see I'm not the only one and I didn't screw up by using it. Thanx
