Ditto. People don't wait to try and dry 'em out, they just assume they're gone and replace 'em. I have a non-vented opti, and I can't even remember how many times I've got it wet enough to where it wouldn't start. I've went through a few puddles that made it stall out, I've sprayed water on it quite a few times, I even covered in it coolant when I did the TB bypass, it again stalled, but started in a few hours. I never used anything to dry it out, I just waited a few hours for it to dry out. It runs like a champ, no hesitations or misses

Opti is right under the water pump on the front of your engine. You have to remove the bellow to see it if your looking at it from up top.

Hey guys, I have a 95 z, what should I cover up under the hood when I'm cleaning the engine?

You don't have to cover anything up. Just avoid the front of the engine with water as much as possible. I clean mine by spraying everything with Purple Power(cheaper spin off of Simple Green), hose it off with a water hose spraying lightly, blow most of the water off with an air hose, allow to sit to dry the rest of the way, and then cover with a nice layer of Armor All or Son of a Gun. I'll usually go back after it has sat for a little bit to wipe down the thick spots of protectant. I have the stock opti with 140,000 on the odometer. A friend of mine has a 94 TA that sprays his engine bay off with a pressure washer all of the time with no trouble. Personally, I think he's asking for it, but he has been lucky so far.

barkerg, glad it worked out all right. Optis are neither cheap nor fun to replace.
