Wanted to get ported heads with STOCK cam

LIke everyone else I am searching for more power out of my LT1, I have almost all the bolt-ons, (Full exhaust, Intake mods, Stall converter, PCM tuning, ETc)
I was thinking about getting one of the Extreme Energy Cams from Comp CAMs but I believe I am going to get some Ported heads instead, with some 1.6 RR's so it will make it seem like I have a new cam making the lifts higher.

I have heard awsome Stuff from Loyd Elliot's head work. This is what I am thinking about .
2.00 1.56 valves with a set of 1.6rr's.
I believe he charges around $500 but I also need to buy all the stuff to make the valves 2.00 and 1.56.(What do I need to buy and where can I GET IT AT)
Now my Knowledge is very limited on this subject, so I can get all the help I can get along with some advice.
What else should I replace when putting the heads and RR's on (I already know Springs will have to be changed out but what else, my car now has 101,000 miles)

Thanks for any help, as soon as I get some nittos for the rear of my car I am wanting to get these heads, I believe with the 2.00 1.56 valves Loyd can get around 260-270 CFM on the intake side and 205 or so on the exhuast side)

Do a search for Lloyds email address. He is awesome to work with but $500 won't get you port/polish and bigger valves. The machining is more involved for 2.00/1.56's I beleive. I would however get them milled and get Impala head gaskets for higher compression.

Brad

P.S. His porting prices go up in 3 weeks (aug. 1st)

Getting ported heads without changing the cam is worth about 10-15 horsepower. If you're gonna go through the hassle, do the cam as well. The stock cam is totally weak and needs to find its way to the nearest trash can.

Lloyd charged me a little more then $500, but I got bigger valves. I have the hot cam and I should be dyno'ing soon, with the head swap happening hopefully on Thursday-Friday. I got my valves frmo Jegs (Manley valves) and I think in total they were like $180. not too bad.

I believe Lloyds board name is nightTrain66.

Well I Didn't know if I should go with a Cam first or the heads, but what from what you guys have said it sounds like a Cam would make alot more power. I now Combination Motorsports sells a kit for around $550 that comes with Everything RR's and all.
I believe its the Comp Cams extreme engergy 224/230
The lift numbers with the 1.6RR's is 236/244 I believe. People say don't go any bigger than that cam with stock heads so I may need to get this cam over the heads.

Wish I had enough money to do both of them though.

So I should go with this cam over the heads first.

Go with a cam first. You will pick up about 20-30hp with just a cam swap and it is usually cheaper.

Buddies car:

1994 Z m6
Hooker LT
CAI
3.73
Tuning
Full ported lt1 heads (289/195)
STOCK cam

12.5 110 1.78 60'

I say go for it, stock heads suck just as much as the stock cam.

Definitely get cam before portwork. Porting will help a little on top end but that's about it. A cam by itself would help FAR more than portwork and no cam. After you have a cam the portwork will help ALOT more.
