are there alot of miles on the motor? why do you want to rebuild it? for three grand, get exhaust, cam, waterpump, gears, and nitrous. On the street youd be able to beat just about anything with that.

check out my setup in the sig, might be a bit over 3k but i'm runing 12.4's @114 with stock heads and lower end with damn near 200k. I know i'm pushing it but if you have a 100k car i wouldn't worry at all about camming it. Bolt ons alone should get you close to high 12's and the cam will put you in the mid-low 12's for sure...

To make power it is the heads and cam that need addressing and you can pretty quickly spend the whole $3K on the topend and valvetrain and that is using ported stock heads. Then again it will comfortably exceed your ET goal.

Honestly though if starting with a stock car you will need to spend 3K on supporting stuff before you even think about engine work.

A rebuild without headwork is NOT going to give you much power.
