Want to make car louder
Want to make car louder
I kind of want to make my 97 z28 louder. It roars at high speeds but I would like some more lowend noise. I've heard some other ones and they sound so much deeper and louder. I don't want it to be too loud though.
I have corsa exhaust(I know it has been designed to be on the quieter side) and a moroso intake. I am planning on getting headers and maybe a cutout.
I was wondering if it is worth taking off my cat converter? Will i notice a substantially increased noise?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Want to make car louder
Add some freakin headers, that'll do it. Cut-out just sounds annoying to me.
Full length headers make the car sound amazing, especially at high rpm. Sounds like a race car.

Re: Want to make car louder
if you want a quick, cheap, and hp increasing mod that will make your car loud then get rid of your Cat. It doubled the sound of my borla. Warning on some exhausts it will make them sound kind of nasty, others it wont. I wouldn't butcher up that corsa for a cut out.
Re: Want to make car louder
From my personal experience doing header installs on several cars, headers will smooth out the exhaust tone, not necessarily make it louder. With the lack of flow and turbulence in stock manifolds comes a louder raspier tone. Headers will smooth that out and eliminate turbulence.
If you want loud, stock manifolds, no cat, and a cutout are as loud as it gets. Heads and cam will amplify that three-fold.

I don't know if a cam makes the car any louder either. I do think my car is louder after the ported heads maybe its because the exhaust port has been opened up. Either that or its just as loud as before and i'm crazy.

From stock cam to new cam, it's amplified quite a bit, at least on my car. I was running a stock cam with a cutout and MAC headers, then switched to the cam in the sig, JH long tubes, and a full Hooker cat-back, and it SCREAMS.
