Want to be in 13.0 -13.5 range

Just bought a ragtop 1995 Z28.

I plan on adding flow master cat back and K&N intake system.

But I really want to be in the 13.0 - 13.5 1/4 time range.

With the above mods what time range will I be in?

Also, what else can I do, that is not too complicated (do not want to rip the engine apart or put in a supercharger) to be
in the 13.0 -13.5 1/4 time?

Thanks

Stick or auto?

If you have an auto, and all you care about is ET, a descent size stall and some 3.73s will get you there with some sticky tires.

I am going to do the flow master cat back and K&N intake system.
Can anyone recommend some easy (not rip the engine apart) mods that will help me get to low 13's.

THX!

Just do all the little stuff, get rid of the cats, put some headers on it. bypass the throttle body, get a different elbow, put a airfoil in the throttle body, get a pcmforless tune. aluminum driveshaft. gears.
With just bolt ons I ran 13.19 and im sure if I had gears at that point I would have been in the 12s...

I hope you're recommending that along with what everyone else posted. Because a PCM tune will not get him mid 13s.

Long tubes, torque converter, gears, and sticky tires and you will damn near be high 12s.

This is very easy even with your car weighing more than the hard top/t-top cars. Get LTs, stall, gears, CAI, and exhaust and gut the cat. Stay away from the Flowmaster cat back system. Get a SLP LM or Hooker system. Add tires and your there no problem.

Thanks for the advice, can you clue me in on the terminology?

What are LT's??

I know what a stall is, why a stall converter??
What does this do for it? And what stall converter / range?

What size gears??

Do any of these mods need CPU reprogramming?

How about speedo recalibration with new gears?

Thanks again
Tom

Sry bout that man

LTS= long tube headers
CAI= cold air intake (N&N or SLP I suggest)
Gears= 3.73 auto, 4.10 6spd.

You wont need to do any programming or tuning, but it wouldn't hurt.

Hello Ekof96Z28,

Can you tell me exactly what bolt ons you did.

OK, so here is what I have so far.

1. SLP CAI
2. SLP CAT BACK SYSTEM
3. AIR FOIL
4. Long tube headers

And bypass the throttle body? Not sure what that is or does??
(I am an old carb engine guy).

Also, get ride of the Cats? Thought I need those to pass inspection.

Different elbow? Can you explain?

I want this car to remain very street legal.

Thanks

Tom

A 1LE elbow doesn't have a big silencer tube attached to it. Worth a few hp. If you have visual emissions inspection your going to need a cat. If they want to be dicks they can still fail u since they move the locations of the cats. In which case you need some shorties. Read about what goes on in your area.

What you have listed will be good for low 13's with some sticky tires. A PCM tune is only a hundred bucks and its worth 10hp. Some suspension junk will help a lot too lca's.sfc's

(and to keep the car very STREET LEGAL)

1. SLP CAI
2. SLP CAT BACK SYSTEM
3. AIR FOIL
4. Shortie headers

Still not sure what by passing the throttle body is?
(can someone explain)

So with this and a descent set of slicks, I should be low 13's?

Thanks

IMHO the smaller stuff like the bellow, TB bypass, and air foil don't need to happen right away to get the job done. The TB bypass is just a free mod that allows the coolant to travel outside of the throttle body to keep things a little cooler. These little things can be done later.

Just go with what you have so far:
SLP cat back
SLP CAI
Shorty headers
2800 stall
gears
Sticky tires

You'll get there with this set up
