wait a minute....two bleed valves???

Ok guys, i admit that i don't know a whole lot about cars. I have some knowledge with mine though, just from issues that have sprung up over the past five years that i've owned the car. ('97 z28 automatic). I know to bleed the coolant system after flushing and refilling but i only see one bleed valve (easily accessible on the piece which sits bolts directly atop the thermostat). Where is the other one?? this was mentioned in a previous thread. Also...please educate me on thermostats. I have a 180 deg. one. Are there different ones and which is best??

Thanks in advance

The other one is to the left of the IAT in the pic:

The other one is on the top pass. side in one of the hoses coming out of the water pump. They put a metal section in the hose and that is where its mounted in.

yes there are two, one on the thermosat area, the other is just a few inches on a smaller hose that run the steam line for the TB. As for the 180 thermosat it will be fine. The lower you go will not do anything unless you you program the car with a lower t-sat.

Thats false, my car will idle all day long just barely over the 160 mark on the gauge on stock fan settings as long as its not 100degrees out.

It may work for you, but not here is heavy traffic areas of san diego. I put a 170 with the jet fan switch.

Yeah the thing that looks like an AC line is actually the Inlet water line. This is where the other bleeder valve is.

They do make other thermostats. I have 160 degree thermostat. It stays right around 160 all day. In traffic it will rise, but as soon as i start moving it rapidly cools down. I do have a cowl hood though. You should bypass your throttle body too. Since yours is a 97 you wont even need a kit.

I'm surprised you didn't find THAT one first then be stumped as to where the other one was. It's a tad hidden.
