Question Is vigilanete worth the bucks or should just buy cheaper stall??

I am not sure if the vigilante hype is just that or what.Do I really need to spend that much for a good stall.will a tci or b and m or slp be just as good in a car that won't ever have heavy mods like nitrous, supercharger or even heads and cam and headers.
I mostly just want a bit more fun around town and on street tires. So you guys with cheaper other makes of stalls lets her some feeback on how happy you were with them..what make you got.

I think its worth the extra money. It's one of the best mods i have done so far. Save your money and get the vigilante.

I had a vigilante and have absolutely no complaints. I don't think a stall really adds to the fun factor though unless you have really good tires and suspension. On the street most of the fun will just go up in smoke.

the high end converters are definately worth the money, they have great build quality and good customer service but...........they are damn expensive.
I could not justify the high price so I went with a TCI stall and have no complaints.
Just like in your post I would spend the big money if I was making BIG horsepower but on a mild 350 I think you can go with a cheaper stall and be happy.
Sikz28 is correct, you will need suspension and tires to take full advantage of it.

Lots of people without extensive mods have had good luck with the less expensive converter brands. OTOH, Vigilante sure has an excellent rep. The thing is, a converter on street tires may not help you much. I'd be more inclined to install a set of higher ratio gears rather than a converter if I was interested in a little screwing around on the street.

Yeah, I'll probably put in 3.73 before I get a stall.

I have a Vigi, and swear by it. It can take a beating! I would save your $ and get a Vigi. In the future, you won't regret it w/ newer mods, ect. You will be glad you bought it! Combine that w/ gears, and

You will LOVE it.

Seriously, YOU get WHAT you pay for.

I have been very happy with my Midwest stall. It has taken a beatin too. The only thing I like about the vigs better they are a 9" converter. The Midwest one I have is a 11" on one side and 9" on the other I think. But I gets the job done and was under $550.00. They give one free stall change too. I run 3.23 gears too with a best 60ft time of 1.601

Vig here too...And I have no compliants either been running one for almost 2 years now.

It supposed to stall at 2600 rpms on a stock motor,
Add a supercharger and it stalled around 2800 rpms
Now with more boost to the blower and a Stroker motor, it stalls at 3000rpms.

Hope that helps,
Claude

I got a Vigi nice and cheap at 400 bucks, used, on ebay.
No complaints at all, can't tell difference from stock except for the better acceleration (and yes a lot of power does go up in smoke).

I for one thing that if you're going to do any mods you should get the best parts you can afford, rather do it right once than several times because I bought cheap parts. Aim for a 9 inch converter--less rotating mass and you may see a *slight* increase in gas mileage! In going from 3.23's and the stock stall to 3.73's and a vigi 3200 I actually gained about 2 mpg on the highway!

What STR is everyone running in their Vigi's? I know a big deal was made about STR on their website. Are they all the same?

I had been running Vigilante's for 3+ years. I'm now running an EDGE Racing converter....if that tells you anything. The fact that it's ALSO 200+ dollars cheaper, is just icing on an already sweet cake.
