Cool Victory Racing Engines comes thru!

A little background first. This is the 4th time this motor has been reworked. There have been numerous shady shops that have screwed me many ways, and put wrong parts or shoddy workmanship into them. But thats not the point. I was to the point I was going to part my car out and start over. Reset button if you will.

I havent touched the car since last october, and I got to talking to Nick at Victory Racing Engines about a month ago and he was certian he could find the problems. At this point I was indifferent to fixing it, but the thought of having someone swear they could do it intrigued me. So out it came and off to Detroit it went.

Now I wasnt in a rush to get it done, but Nick came up with a idea that if we worked hard, we could have the car at the Woodward Dreamcruise. That gave us less then a month to pull it, repair it, build it, and install it. I was less then certian it would happen.

But it in fact DID happen. I picked up my new 385 LT1 stoker this past Sunday when I was in Detroit. Fully assembled, cleaned and minus a hell of alot of problems.

Nick found that the keepers werent machined to fit, they were ground down. The rings were gapped like they were just taken out of the box and used. Same thing with the rods...ovaled at both ends. Valve seals were being picked up by the valves so oil was getting by there as well.

So it took 3 performance shops, and 2 machine shops, but I finally found someone who knows what they are doing and does a stellar job. If any of you guys are looking for a great builder, give the guys at Victory Racing Engines a shout. They do great work, and if they say it will be there by a certian time, they are serious.!

Thanks again Nick and Eric. You guys RULE

Anyway, if any of you give a sh*t, here are a few folders of photos.

Re: Victory Racing Engines comes thru!

Nick pm'd me with some advise, tips, whatever regarding a shortblock setup for a blower.

I thought that was great that he reached out like that. Sure, he's promoting his business but it's cool that he took the time to shoot the BS with me about my setup. Those little things add up and go a long way to build character.

Kudos to Nick and Victory.

He did the same for me. I don't even plan on building the motor for a year or so but he was willing to PM me and ask if there was anything he could help me with. I really appreciate people like him and am defintely keeping him in mind for my motor rebuild.

Re: Victory Racing Engines comes thru!

I just spoke with Nick this morning about a rotating assembly for a blower application with ported stock heads and we went into pretty great detail and a few different options to keep the cost down which kind of turned into me possibly spending a little more and letting them do the whole shortblock for me instead because he seems like a great guy, spent the time to talk to me about what im looking to do and the best/cheapest/most reliable way to go about it. Going the extra mile is what the customers like to see, and Victory Racing Engines seems to be all about that. When I scrape a little more dough together they will more than likely have my business (as I didnt plan on doing the whole shortblock just yet). You might be able to save a few bucks here and there, but when yer talking about spending $4-5k on an engine, do you really want to do it more than once? We've all been there done that im sure. Anyways, thanks Nick for taking the time and hopefully we'll be doing business very soon. Gotta get a few tranny sidejobs in and ill be good to go

Glad to hear this information. Nick has also been very helpful with me as well. His PM's are always prompt, and he is eager to help. Customer service is top notch, and although i haven't used his services yet..I wouldn't be worried too. So good luck to Nick and Eric @ Victory Racing. Keep up the good work.

Nice to see a speed shop actually helping someone for a change. Its a break from the rash of crooked stories that have been floating around recently.

Re: Victory Racing Engines comes thru!

Yea dude, haven't spoke to Eric much but Nick is absolutely the man.

The dude freakin PM's me, I call him... and it's a match made in heaven. Dude likes good music and likes fast GM cars!! I wasn't familiar with his work but the customer service is freakin incredible. He gets me all the information I need as soon as possible and thats never more then 24 hours. Totally knowledgeable too... had a reason and explanation for EVERY question I had and for EVERY reason for what he was doing or wants to do.

He's a good salesmen too... selling me all sorts of goodies to make my bill higher!! DOH!! hahaha They are all needed though... he is the man.

He has had my motor for about 1 1/2-2 weeks I think? Wants to get it back to me in another 1 1/2 weeks. Absolutely flying through everything and was totally up for calling Lloyd Elliot up for discussing my LE3 383 M6 setup (Going with a 9:1 dcr and a 11.8:1 scr). So between these two freaks of GM making my motor, and i'm just tickled with excitement. hahaha

I am definitely going to give a rundown of my motor and a conclusion from VRE once I get the car back up and running. So stay tuned!! Just about 2-3 weeks left!!

Call and ask for Nick... he is the only person who I will be sending my gm blocks too from now on (If my motor turns out as good as everything is going).

Hell yeah, dude even took one for the team. Seems my block didnt like the location in the clean room, so it rolled over his toe
