Vibration?

I'm getting some vibration at about 1800 rpm. It occurs even when i'm parked and rev it in park or neutral. I'm 99% sure it's not the torque converter or flywheel, could it be my harmonic balancer? Any help would be appreciated

Re: Vibration?

well when i rev it up and watch the motor, it doesn't move much so i doubt the mounts are bad.

Re: Vibration?

I had same problem and changed torque converter which helped. I sent the old one back and they said it had excessive runnout. I still have a vibration just not as bad. I was told to have the car scoped it could be a ignigtion or fuel injecter problem but can't afford it at this time.

Re: Vibration?

My engine started vibrating at 2000-2400 RPM after I installed my underdrive pully. That is the range where SBC's "resonate", so you will usually feel vibrations in that range. Do you have an U/D pulley? Is the rubber in your balancer in good shape, or is it slipped/dried out/cracked? Has the car always done this, or did it just start? Vibrations are hard to track down. Good luck.

Re: Vibration?

i took it back to the tranny shop and they put another converter in it and its better but it's still there, it never happened before i took it to them so i dont see how it could be anything but the converter or maybe flywheel. I dont have underdrive pullies, and the LT1s have a different harmonic balancer, it doesn;t have those little rubber weights on it like the SBC balancers. I've never seen an LT1 balancer go bad so i doubt that's what it is.

Re: Vibration?

Man i need some help. Ever since i got my tranny rebuilt, i've been getting vibration. It even vibrates in park when i rev it up. I took it back to the tranny shop and he said he moved the tranny back and reved the motor with the tranny disconected and it did the same thing, so he's saying its nothing to do with the tranny or torque converter. What could be wrong with the motor to vibrate like that. it's worst at 1800 rpm. When i get into the higher rpms it smooths out. If i cant get rid of this vibration, i'm gonna sell my TA.
