vibration
vibration
ok, i have 96 ta a4. when im at a red light ( or stopped anywhere for that matter) the car idles at about 600-700. when the light turns green and i pull away slowly, theres a terribly hard vibration throughout the car. if i hold the brakes and get rpms to about 1000 or so, everything is fine. no vibration at all. ive heard it could be the tc or even the drive shaft. i do have a drive shaft off a 95 z28 if thats what it turns out to be. anyone have any ideas?
Re: vibration
i actually just had it done like a month ago. there was a code for the tranny slipping and at like 35-45 mph, the rpms would be jumpy..like the tranny didnt know if it should downshift or not. now, its been almost a month, SES light is on for same thing, and its doing the same thing as before, except for now its only around 30-35 mph. im in the process of trying to get it back to the shop where i had it done at..the only problem is its 500 miles away. do you think the vibration is being caused by the tranny? could the tranny messing up also be causing the tc to mess up as well ?
Re: vibration
yup, I had a tc fail on me once. It would shake the hole truck when I came to a stop. Then, one day it let go. The trans still worked and I drove it home, but it was hard to get it rolling once I got it stopped. While the engine was running it made a lot of noise and vibated.
If you are having the same trouble as before, Iwould say your new tranny is crapping out again.. Sorry to hear the bad new!
Good luck, Rob
ps. drop me a line and let me know what happens.

Re: vibration
its not that it shakes when i come to a stop. it only does it when i pull away from a dead stop at low speeds. only between, lets say, 700-1100 rpms. after that its good to go. like i said, if i hold the brakes and press the gas a lil and get rpms to about 1000, when light is green, i let off brake and pull away fine. no vibration at all. the engine doesnt make alot of noise either. i mean, sure its loud, but to me, it almost seems a lil quieter. and theres no possibility of it being the drive shaft? ive heard that at high speeds the drive shaft will vibrate the car, but why not at low speeds? especially when the car firsts starts to roll? will it not do it then?
