Not bad at all. Some seem way over-priced.

i bought one for my t/a about a year ago...i was also very impressed...i put the polished intake to my polished vortech intake elbow it looks SWEET and more importantly i would say performs better than ram/air and less restrictive than other companies, i got the two stage setup to go infront of my wheel well... oh and to get the two stage setup and the k&n filter 5" cone filter i got it for like $75-80 shipped, and the results were

No plate to block the filter off from the engine bay? not very "cold" of a cold air intake if that is the case. It's honestly nothing more then polished and bent pipe with a filter and some connectors...

um...they are nowhere near the engine, they are right infront of the wheel well, roughly about 3 inches from the bottom of the car, where the vents are at

I think you basically gave the definition of CAIs there.... I'm sure he'll find a way to block off portion with filter eventually, but it isn't worth it to everyone to pay an additional $160 for a piece seperating the compartments and a better filter.

[QUOTE=fredmr39]I think you basically gave the definition of CAIs there..../QUOTE]

You hit it right on the head. This is why I've been waiting because all of them pretty much do the same thing, I was waiting for one that "looks good" (to me anyway). After GMPP quit making theirs, It was just a matter of time until another polished CAI came about and here it is. I did finally figure out the differences between the $7 (one piece) and the $21 (two pieces)....not shipping Probably will purchase a K&N filter though.

Thanks 95patriotZ, i guess being patient $payed$ off again!! (I'm not really sure why everyone likes the plastic, looks like crap to me...JMO, plus they're 2-3 times the price!!)

Re: Very surprised with ebay CAI. My thoughts...

When I bought mine 2+ years back, it was only available as the one piece. And I paid like $40 for it. Yay for me.

But it's higher stance is actually why I bought it, sure it stays in the hot engine bay, in a location similar to the stock air filter, but it stays in the DRY engine bay. So rather than bringing the filter to the cold air, I opted to bring the cold air to the filter.

I threw a K&N on it because the included filter seemed cheap.

Enjoy your new toy. It's your car, modify it as you see fit.

Re: Very surprised with ebay CAI. My thoughts...

i'd say it looks well worth the $40...

but i would definately be looking for a means to block off the filter area from the engine bay. not saying it is making much of a difference being "open" to the engine bay heat...but hey...every little bit counts. and i think it would be kindda slick to have the pipe just disappear into the fender.

what size is the tubing? as in diameter? because i would think anything smaller than 3" would be a minor restriction. since that is the diameter of the MAF. i'm not sure 3" tubing fits between the radiator and the thing that sits right behind it (something with the brakes right?). but if the tubing is 2.5" that would be a bit small...i would think 3" with some dents in it for clearance would be a better choice...

but hey...i say good purchase

i beleive it is a 3" pipe. The worst thing about it is it doesn't quite clear the radiator so it kinda sits on it a little bit, but not bad. Fits good enough.

You can buy the same setup for like 90$ from the seller, which includes the extra tube which goes inside hte fender well and an K&N cone filter for 90$! Thats what I bought and It works great! Screw paying 200$ Woot ebay!

Mine even came w/ red rubber elbows which matched my car, so that was cool, and the chrome looks nice. ONly problem I noticed was that the pipe which connects to the rubber elbow doesnt sit exactly straight, and it bends a little up, I think it was hitting the black padding on the underside of my hood and melted it a little, no biggy, just had to move it around some.

Thats almost the exact one I have but mine has a rubber grommet to make the bend where it goes down into the fender well.

Has anyone thought about fabbing a Cai that sit right in front of the AC condenser and takes the air that the air deflector shoots up?? i saw this on a impala that i worked on but i know theres no room on the camaros the way this guy did it. Or how about relocating the IAT into the Air Deflector
