Just installed a hotcam in my 94 z28. Car starts and runs OK, and will initially tach up OK, but it is running very rich...eyes wattering rich. Eventually starts missing and loading up then is hard to restart. I've only run the car about 5 mins since the install was finished and haven't tried driving it. I also noticed some smoke coming up from behind the intake today after I tried to restart it.

Car is currently running a mailorder tune from Madz28.

Switch to speed density and use VEMaster to fix it up.

 

Anybody else find it odd that it is running 6.5% duty cycle at idle and the map is seeing 14.74 at idle? Not to mention injector pulse with is 10ms! Those numbers are almost 5 times what they were before I took the car apart.

Any ideas what would cause that? Is there something during re-assembly that would have screwed that up? A ground wire or something?

 

Looks like I might have figured out my own problem. There is a braided grounding strap coming out of the harness by the coil that grounds to the body. This cable wasn't tightened down at all. I tightened it up and the car runs about 1000x times better. No logs yet, but I think that might have done it.
