I installed a 96 engine into my 93 TA a few years ago. It has a GM opti, which I cleaned and resealed. I didn't have a vacuum port so I let it vent to the outside thinking it was fine. Well today the car stopped building rpm with gas, tach started jumping. Pulled over paperclipped code 16. Car restarted fine and I crept 1/4 home without issue.

But appears you may have the PCV vacuum connected there with a short “U” shaped hose. That was only used 93/94. In 95 they changed the vacuum for the PCV valve to a nipple under the throttle body.
If you have used the nipple behind the PCV valve for the PCV vacuum, tee into the 90° rubber elbow just above and behind the PCV valve. Insert a tee fitting between the manifold nipple and the elbow.
Do you have a vent air supply line from the throttle body intake rubber elbow to the Opti?
Tee into the 90-deg elbow above and slightly behind the PCV valve. That's full port vacuum for the EGR valve solenoid. Put a tee fitting in between the nipple and the 90-deg elbow.
Make sure your vent line is connected in the correct direction:
The 96 used the vacuum nipple right behind the PCV valve, but you appear to have the PCV valve connected there like it was on your 93. In 95 they changed the plumbing for the PCV valve:
I'm 99% sure I have the hose from the opti i pictured is routed the correct way, I looked up pictures before I installed it. The all blue part is below and the white and blue is going towards the intake. And also yes, the tube going to the elbow is present.
Ill look at find that u shaped hose you're referring to when I get home.
The U-shaped hose is in your photo - it is attached to the PCV valve, and doubles back to a vacuum connection a couple inches behind the PCV valve. Leave that alone. Tee into the 90-deg connector just above the PCV valve. That's what I did when I installed a GM vented Opti on my 94 (along with the LT4 extreme duty timing set that had the cam drive for the Opti).
I made a tee similar to yours. Thanks. Now the car doesn't want to start. I think it's too little too late probably loaded with ozone. So off comes the opti this weekend.

This opti came off my car last year. I just opened it tonight to clean it.
At the time it was removed it was on the car for 1 year with just a few thousand miles since I cleaned it. No vacuum to manifold. The opti on the car probably looks like this one.
Ozone corrosion. Check the pins in the harness connector too.

You mean where it attaches by the fuel rail? I checled there and it was clean. Coil per cylinder would be cool but I like having it be a true LT1 car. Cars running again. The water pump seal was replaced. Used the ebay tool, worked like a charm. Hopefully the front oil leak is gone.
