vented, the changes were basically made to improve the opti by adding a ventilation system that is connected to the air intake. This draws air through the distributor to eliminate moisture buildup in the optical mechanism. With the low distributor mounting, plus the water pump being directly overhead, there was a tendency for moisture and coolant to seep into the distributor leading to the infamous "optispark" problems. non vented opti doesnt have that ventilation

For the conversion, you'll need the following:

1. Vented opti (94-96 b-bodys, 95-96 f-bodys)
2. Timing cover to accomodate. (Big hole in the center, but not 96' type.) (94-95 b-bodys, 95 f-bodys) Your cover has a small hole in the center.
3. Camshaft with pilot hole and long dowl pin for opti driveshaft. (94-96 b-bodys, 95-96 f-bodys) Better yet, get a hot cam or comp305 or 306!
4. Cam gear with large center hole. (94-96 b-bodys, 95-96 f-bodys)
5. Hoses to connect the opti to the manifold and intake duct.

There may be more, but that's basics. GL!

Do it right the first time, you also might want to consider a elec WP, but that would require a little different set-up. I have all the part numbers for that. Email me if you need them or just search the board.

LT4 Heavy Duty Timing Gears/Chain for that bad boy.
Elec harness 12130319 (you will have to modify the male side of the connector slightly, you will know what I mean)
Vac harness 12555323
Vac fitting 14082470
OPTI (95 Vented) 1104032
Timing Cover (95) 12552426

and always make sure the cam dowel length is just right.

Good Luck.

Just to add my $.02, the vented Opti also serves another important purpose. The venting is to clear out the ionized air that results from the high voltage arcing between the rotor and the cap. If not cleared out, it can contribute to faster corrosion/breakdown of the other parts in the distributor.

If you have ever stood near the railroad tracks of an electric train and smelled that smell as the train approaches, you know the smell of ozone (ionized air) caused by arcing from the trains contacts. You also smell it after a lightening storm. Smells good but bad for rubber/plastic parts and seals.

a LOT more than if you bought them from Jason. At least $600.

Edit:
Just the wiring harness and VAC stuff will cost you $120-150 from a dealer.
Jason can get them to you $70-80 (I'm guessing)
