Vendor Caution!
I've read your post twice and, if I'm reading it correctly, you bought a bunch of extra stuff (duplicates) which you knew you wouldn't need all of it with the intent on sending some of it back. Why would you think you don't have to pay the restocking fee? If a restocking fee would ever be applicable it would be for a case such as this. IMO you can't expect a company to eat the cost of the paperwork, shipping, etc for people like you who order stuff knowing you're going to send back some of it. If you expect them to eat that cost then that means higher prices for ME and I don't think that's fair. I order what I need and what I want and if I screw up and have to send something back, the 15% is an expected fee/penalty for MY mistake.
It already looks like this is going to head down hill so I'm going to close it now rather than move it as some have suggested. If it is going to degrade here into a flame fest there is no need for me to "dump" this on the Lounge moderators.
