If you were to stick a normal key (no chip) in the ignition the engine will crank but not start??

I am curious as one of my keys was giving me an occasional security light but did not shut the engine down. The light would stay on for 5 or so minutes.

 

On my 94 and 96 if the security light comes on it won't even crank. I would think the 93 would be the same???

There are, supposedly, 18 resistor values to choose from to defeat this, or measure the resistance of your key now. Then this resistor would go in-line, you'd have to tear the car apart though to do this.
