Valvetrain and timing parts
Valvetrain and timing parts
So I have a set of crane gold rr's 1.6SA. I was going to put these on, but a friend of mine basically has his own shop and tore out an engine for a guy who blew his up. Turns out the engine was an LT1 with a lot of money put into it, and the guy told him to just keep it because it was basically trashed.
Well my friend said he popped off the valve covers and found a perfect set of Jezel (spelling?) valvetrain and a dry timing chain set.
My question is, really my car is just a weekend car, but I like to be able to take it on long trips if i have to so reliability is good. How reliable would the Jezel valvetrain setup be to the cranes and what about the dry timing setup. Id get a new chain if i used it since the motor blew.

Jesel makes some of the best valve train components available, including shaft rockers for the LT1. If you have a set of those, they will be much more reliable than the Crane Golds, although the Jesel Competition series is much better than the low $$$$ ($750) SS series. I also saw a prototype Jesel 1.8X roller rocker (non-shaft) in an LT1 back in 1995, but I don't think they ever reached production.
Jesel does not make timing chains/sets. They make belt drives, but I have never seen one fitted to an LT1.

Im not sure who makes the timing chain, I didnt mean to say I thought jesel did if i did. I just know its a dry setup.
