valvetrain questions

valvetrain questions

few things, i found some used 1.6's ($100)that look to be in good shape but they dont have locks with them where do i need to lok to get new ones? cost?

while im in there im going to swap springs what would y guys recomend? i dont have any immediate plans to get a cam but if i do it wont be too big, hotcam or a little bigger.

anything else that im overlooking?

don't know the brand i think crane but they have been in my tool box for a few years

I run all 7/16 and girdle so you can have em

any suggestions on a good set of stock dia. springs new or slightly used?

If you don't ever plan on doing a cam, you can get the LT4 springs and be good, at least up to a LT4 hotcam. If you think you'll ever want to cam it and go bigger than the hotcam, then you should probably get either the Crane spring kit or some CC26-918 beehive springs. Those are the most popular, I think, for a wide range of aftermarket cams.

I know some people don't like em but check out some k-motion k-750
Then you can reuse your retainers etc.
I have run them for 5 years myself

LT4 Springs

The LT4 springs are a great value and will work very well with the
stock cam and other stock hardware. You can probably find a
set in the parts for sale forum. They are not that expensive new
from the dealer. I think they were $35 four years ago when I
got them (wholesale price).

While you are in there you should change the valve stem oil seals.
