valves i think
valves i think
well recently i have noticed a tapping sound in my engine
it is a light tapping only when i accellorate
i thought maybee it was an exhaust leak but it doesn't do it unless thier is a load on the engine
it doesn't seem to effect my power too much but it does kill a little bit of it
im having my mechanic check it out on thursday
but i wanted you guys/gals opinions first you seem to know more than anyone else
any other info needed just ask ill gladly tell you
o ya do these rockers need adjustment at any point or do they pretty much stay where they are supposed to be?

Re: valves i think
Hey man when you figure this problem out hit me up. I have the exact same thing. It is worse when the engine is just started up. I have no idea what it is-but i can garentee it's in the vlavetrain. I just didn't want to waste my time and money on something i will probably change anyway. I have had it for ever and is very annoying at light throttle...........guess that's why i drive WOT all the time
or at least that is my excuse.

Re: valves i think
Well, you certainly need to find out what's making the sound and whatever you do if your oil pressure takes a dive, turn it off NOW.
You shouldn't have to make any adjustments to hydraulic lifters once they are lashed.
But if it is coming from the valve train it could be a collapsed lifter. That would certainly make a little noise and suck some power out.
As long as you're in there, might as well go with some 1.6RRs and some springs (if you don't already have them). JMHO
