I've ran the 918's and I'm currently running Patriot 8501-BSBC springs. I prefer the Patriots. My camshaft is a Comp custom grind using their most aggresisve lobes. I experienced valve float with the 918's.

Both are good, the patriots out gun the 918 I think though. Patriots also are a "larger" spring (not a beehive).

Maybe look into a stronger beehive spring? Not sure what comp calls them but I know the PAC 1518's are the beefier beehive up from the 1218. (comps old 918s, not the ones that broke).

I think that I might end up going with the patroits. I have been searching a lot and I haven't found anything bad about them. Plus they seem to be beefer than the 918 imo.

Stl94Lt1: did you install your springs yourself? I live just north of stl and am in need of some help installing mine after I buy them.

Right now I will be doing it by following shoebox's Guide on his site.

What are your cam specs? Springs have to match the cam.

The negative info out there about beehives is because people missuse them.

You can easily have trouble with cheap titanium retainers. All it takes to crack titanium over time is a scratch, VERY susceptible to cracking from any surface flaw.

Are you saying I shouldn't get the patroits because they are a cheaper material? I'm not worried about the price. my cam has .51 and .52 intake and exhaust lift. The comp cam page that came with it said use 918, but I was wondering if the patriots were a better spring

.510 and .520 is not a whole lot of lift really, the 918 is rated at .600 lift, or it might be .625 lift these days which is more than enough. I have no idea about the patriot golds.
