valve springs

how much lift will the factory springs take? I bought a cc503 cam but I am on a pretty tight budget so I dont want to change springs, beacause if I do I would want to do rockers, lifters yada yada yada, you know how it works. So can I put the cam in or will it sit on the shelf until I scrap up some more money. I do plan to do rockers and springs later but cant really afford it now.

The CC503 has too much lift for stock LT1 springs. Something is going to go Kaboom if you do it. Must replace the springs. No need to replace the lifters at all. Going roller rockers is not essential but there are mior gains. No way around the springs.

Stock springs especially now being more than a decade old are insufficient for the stock cam.

Is there a problem with running 1.5 rockers for now on springs that are designed for 1.6s

I would think that the stock rockers may be a bad idea with a more aggressive cam. Those rockers are 'worn in' to the stock lift and spring pressure. Adding spring pressure, a more aggressive cam lobe profile and more lift is asking for trouble (read: catastrophic failure).

As long as the lift does not exceed what the spring can handle, I don't see the spring caring what the rocker ratio is.
