valve spring seats on stock heads, question?
valve spring seats on stock heads, question?
i am getting these new parts and want to upgrade springs as well. to do this right i want to get some springs that dont fit the stock seat. my question is what is uinvolved in enlarging the seats? can i do this myself? or do i have to pay for someone to do it?
Re: valve spring seats on stock heads, question?
You need a machine shop to do it, cutting the spring seats is done with a special cutter that pilots off the guide to keep everything concentric, I always do it in our sunnen so that all the spring pads are exactly at the same depth.
Re: valve spring seats on stock heads, question?
What "new" parts? Depends on how big your cam is when it comes to springs. If you go with a mild cam, you should be able to get strong eough springs that will fit your stock seats. JMHO
