Valve Spring Question

Sorry to post another valve spring question, I have tried to search but havent found what I am looking for.

I am looking for a spring that will fit my stock LT1 alum heads and be good for either

Hot Cam(218/228) / .525/.525 or

cc503 cam (224/230) / .536/.544

The hot cam kit comes with marginal springs, comp recomends 986 springs, but those require machineing...

I was looking at comp 918's or the 99893 springs by Crane.

The 99893 springs are significantly cheaper than the 918's, and I think I can use stock retainers with them?

Will one of these springs work for my application, both of them, and to use um what else do I need to buy? I know stuff like Ti retainers would be worthwhile in really perf. oriented engines, but mine is a daliy driver and will probably never see over 5600 or 5800 rpm.

Thanks
Chris

Re: Valve Spring Question

I would go with Beehive springs.

Re: Valve Spring Question

What is the problem with the crane 99893 springs? Does comp make better springs or something?

If anyone knows if these springs will work would greatly help me.
This is the link to the product description.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Valve Spring Question

They will work. However, if you decide down the road to go with a cam that's bigger you will need different springs. Those also show they are for a BBC.

Re: Valve Spring Question

Take a look at the Crane 10308 springs. They are ideal for either cam.
