Valve Spring Question

I thinking about putting some 1.6's in and springs since I plan on doing the hotcam someday. My question is, how do you change the springs without the valves dropping in? This is a daily driver so I cant afford to be pulling the head. Ive seen people using an air compressor in the spark plug holes but I'm not too keen on pulling the plugs right now until i absolutly have too. Looks like that method would add 3 hours to the job.. Any other suggestions? If the cylinder is at TDC would it even fall in?

Done some searching but havn't found much help.

TIA
Craig

With the piston at TDC the valve will not fall very far. This page should help you....

Yea lots of great info there.. Accually was looking at that this morning. No one really says though how the valve stays there or if they had issues with falling valves and what they did to fix it. So if its a TDC then the valve wont fall in far enough that I cant pull it back out without having to pull the head or intake or something?
