valve spring problem

Here's the problem, one of my valve springs broke. I have the LT4 Hotcam, 1.6rr, LT4 valve springs, and trick flow chrome moly pushrods 7.200 .080.

I was told that the LT4 valve springs would work with this setup, but that was before I got the pushrods. Could that be the reason that they snaped or is it most likely just a defective spring?

I was lucky enough that the valve didn't drop thanks to new valve stem seals, so I would like to know before I replace the spring. If you need to see a pic of the spring let me know.

Re: valve spring problem

That could be an issue with the spring, or with how it was installed. I would check the installed height where it broke and see what sort of coil bind clearance you were running with & go from there personally

Re: valve spring problem

what problems would I see if the pushrods were too long? Would that cause a spring to break?

Re: valve spring problem

That could cause coil bind, which would/could break the spring.

Re: valve spring problem

When you checked the springs the first time around.... what was the clearance at max lift?
