Valve Seal Size (aftermarket valves)
Valve Seal Size (aftermarket valves)
Need to know what size valve seals to get!!!
I cant find my dial caliper so i cant get the size!
All i know is that the stock seal is too big, it goes over the valve but its loose so , i am guessing i need something smaller then stock....the seals i pulled off are bluish/greenish in color and they are same design as the OEM GM seals. what size is stock .530?

Re: Valve Seal Size (aftermarket valves)
You are confusing me...is it loose over the valve stem or is it loose over the guide?
The valves are a 11/32 stem(.341") the guide boss stock is .557" you may have seals for a .562 stock SBC that may be loose depending upon the press given by the manufacturer. Or your guides have been cut for one of several aftermarket seal boss sizes .530" and .500" are most common.
The blue/green seal sounds like a US seal co. Viton metal-clad seal, which are very nice, and I actually prefer over teflon now.
If the seal is loose over the valves then somebody put in 5/16" stems (.311")
