My stock heads are off the car and I couldn't remove the valves through the valve guides because of a burr in the valve lock groove. So I used a round file to deburr the grooves. Has anyone else have this happen to them? Will the locks still engage properly?

 

That sounds about normal. I take a file to them all of the time to get the valves out.

 

I use a flat file though, and carefully follow the stem contour....I would be scared to use those valves as you have now tapered that groove with your round file.
