Valve Lash

Can you miss zero lash by adjusting it by hand (no wrench)? Im using comp pro mags and they bolts are really smooth, unlike stock rocker bolts. Im curious if i can go past zero lash by hand. How definate is zero lash? I have comp pro mag lifters if that helps.

try spinning the pushrod. or you could move it up and down to see if there is any slack, i dunno how u would be able to tell right by just tightening the bolt and trying to guess.

If you have new lifters or if your lifters have bled down then yes you can go past zero lash easily by hand. It is too easy to go past zero lash by the 'spinning pushrod' technique IMO so I always wiggle the pushrod up and down while tightening it until it just stops wiggling up and down and call that zero lash.

just put a white mark on all the rocker nuts. once you think the slack in the pushrod is lost, tighten the nut an 1/8 of a turn by watching the white mark on the nut.

I have stock lifters. They say adjust from 1/2 to 1 turn past zero lash. That seems like a big difference. Should i stay at 1/2 or go towards 1 turn?
