Valve guides

Valve guides in my heads are toast. Liners keep cracking or going oval.

Is GM the only source for these? I need them asap.

Re: Valve guides

Ferrea has some nice bronze ones. It's a full guide not just a liner

Re: Valve guides

I have a set of K-LKL195ST K-LINE BRONZE GUIDES .343 X 2.400 Had them removed from my heads when I had some problems with my valve train.

They were installed along with my head porting and larger valves.

Just in case you can't find any and if these will work.

Re: Valve guides

Don't resuse guides.... unless you want to have problems with them later.

I'd have to measure a LT guide to get you the right PN on the ones for you.

I'm suprised that you can't get them thru whoever is doing the guides for you.

Re: Valve guides

I don't know nothin' bout no valve guides, but I assume that you either go with the "actual" guides or use liners. I don't believe that GM has a part no for them, but a machine shop should be able to accommodate you.

Having said this about that, I am assuming that you already have liners and they just went south.or you are contemplating putting new solid guides in and not just liners.

Anyway, I guess that my machinest just took some K-Line liners and diamond honed them to fit my heads. The specs that are on my work sheet say .343 (assuming that is the OD) and 2.400 (assuming that is the length).

I just measured them with an old wooden ruler and I come up with 3/8 (.375) and 2 1/8 (2.1250 : I did not compress them to measure the OD.

If these will work, I will throw them in the mail, but make sure that is what you need before I rob my piggy bank for the postage.
