valve float

i'm running a cc 236/245 and 987 springs at about 6000 rpm i have to shift and i get a backfire you think i'm floating valves?
i was thinking of ordering some 978's. looking for advise.

I wouldn't think that it would be causing it, it should be able to handle 6k rpm's. If you are worried about valve float though I would look into the Hydra-Rev kit instead of changing springs.
